Date: Click quantity: 662

According to media reports on October 27, BP announced the start of production of its latest development project "Egypt Offshore Project"-the Katameya gas field in the North Damietta offshore concession.

The field is being developed by BP’s joint venture, Pharoah Petroleum Company (PhPC), and is expected to produce 50 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Karim Alaa, President of BP North Africa, said: “Through BP’s large number of important assets and infrastructure on onshore Egypt, we can efficiently and economically develop Katameya. Creating value through high-quality and efficient oil and gas development is a key part of BP’s strategy. We think this is a good example of resuming the development of hydrocarbons.

"We are proud to be able to safely put the project into production during a very challenging period. Our team will continue to work hard to support Egypt in realizing its energy resource potential, increase our delivery record, and through our partnership, a strong partnership, with Egypt in the oil sector to achieve the goal."

Katameya announced it is located about 45 kilometers west of the Ha'py platform and has a water depth of 108 meters in 2017.

BP has a 100% stake in the North Damietta onshore concession in the East Nile Delta. Natural gas production from the oil field will be shipped directly to Egypt's national grid.
