Pakistan and Russia will extend the $2 billion North-South gas piping  inspection agreement for six months, according to reliable sources, Pakistan's National Daily reported on October 16. The agreement came into effect on October 16, 2015, and was due to expire on October 16, according to the agreement to renew it once a year.

The agreement mainly covers the North-South gas pipeline project from Karachi to Lahore under the BOOT model. The total length of the project is 1122 kilometers, and the annual gas transmission volume is 12 billion 400 million cubic meters.

In addition to the project, Pakistan and China have reached an agreement to develop a BOOT-based gas pipeline from Karachi to Lahore with a daily capacity of 12 billion cubic feet.
